Marilyn Hughes, LPC is an eating disorder specialist with more than 20 years of practice experience. She established ladder to the moon, an Atlanta eating disorder practice, utilizing her experience as a therapist, inpatient coordinator, and program director working in Decatur Hospital’s Eating Disorder Program. She created and directed Decatur Recovery Residence, an independent housing community for women with eating disorders. She is a member of the International Association for Eating Disorder Professionals. Marilyn defines her collaborative approach as: “I believe the recovery process for eating disorders can be a powerful agent for change when we all work together as a team.” As director of ladder to the moon, she conducts eating disorder evaluations as well as ongoing individual therapy and group psychotherapy. She co-produced the documentary film “BodySpeaks: Finding a Voice Through Art Therapy” (View Video Clip Here) with Comer Rudd-Gates, ATR, LPC.
Carol Kelly, MA, RDN, CSSD, CHES has more than 20 years of experience working with Atlanta eating disorders (anorexia nervosa, bulimia, and compulsive eating). She is a health education/wellness specialist at Emory University and was the staff nutritionist at SAFE Recovery Systems in Atlanta. Carol believes that “Each person’s path to obtaining a healthy relationship with food is unique. As a nutritionist, I work with each client to develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle.” She is a member of the Georgia Dietetic Association, Atlanta Chapter and is active in the local chapter of Nutrition Therapists. She designed a model of health education outreach to student athletes and presented on this topic at the American College Health and Southern College Health Association annual conferences. Carol has participated in ladder to the moon, an Atlanta eating disorders center, since its inception in 1995.
Marilyn and Carol work both independently and collaboratively, taking the client’s best interest into account.
